Finite-element analysis (FEA) is a powerful tool that can actually simulate the performance of a product or system prior to manufacturing a physical prototype. Structural stress locations, thermal dissipative properties, material failure modes and dynamic behavior can be estimated with FEA CAD simulations. When using this tool, Ferrari Engineering advocates the use of “classic engineering” practices to accommodate the capabilities of CAD simulations. Understanding the input loads, constraints and material properties is essential. Instant “push button” gratification often experienced with the ease of running FEA software with modern tools is underestimating the technologies complexity and allows less chance for accuracy. Ferrari Engineering understands the responsibilities of performing CAD simulations and assesses the results as estimations. We can provide first-order simulations that can be very valuable for planning your product design strategy.

Ferrari Engineering has over 25 years experience working within many manufacturing industries. In addition to providing custom metal fabrication, we have established a rapport with various CNC-manufacturing suppliers throughout Silicon Valley that provide the same quality service and high-level workmanship we expect. Having access to these manufacturing capabilities under our full-service umbrella, our customers are offered a “one-stop” project experience. Ferrari Engineering has the knowledge-base and capabilities to provide you with a full-scale working product or tool. We can assist you with the manufacturing transitions of your ideas or inventions, from the napkin sketch to a functional prototype. If you have any manufacturing needs, please contact us for a quotation.
Once a conceptual idea is finalized, documentation may be required for product manufacturing, design reviews, client presentations or patent applications. Ferrari Engineering provides professional engineering documentation for your project, including detailed technical drawings. Drafting is a graphical language for manufacturing and structures the blueprints for fabricating a product or tool. Critical tolerancing and datum locations must be specified in these drawings. It is imperative the design engineer understands the current drafting and geometric tolerance standards to ensure the components are manufactured as intended. We have experience drafting products and systems for high and low-volume manufacturing and can actually design a drawing template for your company with an appropriate logo.

A canvas for modern-day design engineers is their CAD system. Ferrari Engineering offers an expertise and proficiency in parametric solid modeling. A CAD model provides the first scaled illustration of one’s idea or concept. 3D models allow our customers to review their product, system or tool “on the screen”, to provide an initial-level evaluation regarding form, fit and function before any manufacturing is implemented. Creating the conceptual model is the most critical and artistic phase of a development project. The product or tool must be designed for functionality and aesthetics, yet most importantly be manufacturable. Establishing a 3D CAD model can also be useful for subsequent design phases, such as finite-element analysis and photo-realistic rendering.
